
(cnhubei.com) International Forum on Population and Development opens in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei Province Tuesday.
Mr. Hua Jianmin, China’s State Councilor and Secretary General of State Council gave a speech in the opening ceremony.
He briefed the participants on the achievements China has made in performing its commitments to both the ICPD Program of Action and the MDGs and the challenges China faces.
He made a three-point proposal for the better implementation of the ICPD PoA and MDGs. “Co-existence” is the prerequisite for continuous advancement of the human society; “sharing” is the means for mankind to achieve common prosperity; “win-win” is the goal of human society for progress on all fronts, said Hua.
He pledged that Chinese government will continue the performance of its commitment to the international society, and gradually increase its assistance to other developing countries.
Hua ended his speech, saying that the Chinese government shall, as always, uphold the banner of peace, harmony, cooperation and development, adhere to the path of peaceful development, enhance and expand its communication and cooperation with all countries of the world on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, and jointly promote the lofty cause of world peace.
International Forum on Population and Development is held from 7-9 September in Wuhan. About 500 participants attended the forum.
