CANBERRA, Jan. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Third seed Miskina overcame early scare, finally outclassed Israel's Tzipora Obziler 6-4, 6-2 after losing two opening service games.
Lindsay Davenport, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt also breezed into the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne on Thursday.
Losing the first set 2-6, top seed Davenport finally dominated the following two sets 6-2, 6-2. The match lasted one hour and 22minutes.
In the third round, the World No. 1 will play either Jelena Kostanic or Nicole Vaidisova.
Second seed American Andy Roddick beat British Greg Rusedski 6-0, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.
He will play Austrian Jurgen Melzer who defeated Australian Nathan Healey earlier on Thursday.
The Russian's next opponent will be American Lisa Raymond who cast aside Klara Koukalova of Czech Republic 6-0, 6-1 earlier on Thursday.
Other women's players who advanced to the next round include No.26 seed Daniela Hantuchova and 15th-seeded Italian Francesca Schiavone.
Hewitt lost the first set to James Blake of the United States and was set point down in the second before recovering to win it in a tie-breaker.
After winning the second set which lasted 64 minutes, Hewitt dominated the rest of the match and won the third and the last sets 6-0, 6-3.
Hewitt will play Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina on Saturday for a place in the last 16. Chela, the 25th seed, defeated Frenchman Gregory Carraz 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
Sixth seed Guillermo Coria cast aside Brazilian Ricardo Mello 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) and British seventh seed Tim Henman Henman beat Romanian Victor Hanescu 7-5, 6-1, 6-4.
Ninth seed David Nalbandian demolished Santiago Ventura 6-0, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 and 12th seed Guillermo Canas eliminated Spain's Fernando Verdasco 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-0.
Spanish teenager Rafael Nadal beat Russia's 15th seed Mikhail Youzhny 6-1, 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 and remains on course for a possible fourth-round showdown with Hewitt.
Olympic gold medallist Nicolas Massu, seeded 12th, retired fromhis match with German Philipp Kohlschreiber with an ankle injury.
