Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Company Ltd. (YOFC) was jointly founded by the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Wuhan municipal government and Philips of the Netherlands in 1988, and now is being operated by China Telecommunications (Group) Corporation, Wuhan Changjiang Telecommunications Industrial Group Corporation Ltd. and Draka Holding N.V. of the Netherlands.
YOFC is located at 4# Guanshan Er Road in the scenic East Lake Hi-tech Development Zone.
YOFC is a high-tech cooperation dedicated to the manufacturing, research and development of optical fibre and cable products, which is the largest one of the kind in China at present. Being equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies, YOFC is able to offer customers various a complete stock of fibre and cable products.
YOFC has modern plant buildings and equipment and adopts the advanced fibre and cable technologies and modernized management method and system. YOFC obtained ISO 9002 international quality certificate in 1993, which was the first one in the telecommunications manufacturing sector in China.YOFC is now carrying out ISO 9001:2000 quality system.
Since YOFC's fibre and cable products were firstly installed on China's national cable backbone networks in 1992, YOFC has not only supplied products to all provinces of China but extended the markets to USA, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Europe, Middle East, etc. YOFC has been serving a range of sectors including telecommunications, railways, power, CATV, civil aviation, petrochemical, highway, national defense, education.
In 2001, YOFC successfully completed the sixth fibre expansion and the cable expansion as well, through which enlarged the annual fibre capacity to 10 million km and the annual cable capacity to 7 million fibre-km.
YOFC has not only been expanding the production capacity continuously but also is strengthening the international capital operation. In China, YOFC has invested in establishing Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (Shanghai) Company, Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (Jiangsu) Company and acquired a majority of stake in Shantou Aoxing Cable Company one after another.
Facing new opportunities and challenges in the new century, YOFC will continue to take the customers as the center and the technology as the guide, enlarge the production scale, endeavor to reduce the production cost, keep on exploiting market, attach more importance to the R&D, optimize the product structure and execute the rigorous quality management.
