(cnhubei.com) The top of the Three Gorges Dam will open to visitors for three months starting from July 1st to September 30th.

The dam, 2,309 meters long and 185 meters high, is divided into the left and right sections. The 1,600-meter left section has been completed and is to open to tourists this time.

It will receive only 1,000 tourists every day and strict security check will be made to tourists before they mount on the dam. The price will remain 68 Yuan (US$8) per person

Visitors will enjoy the vast peaceful lake and the spectacular view of water being discharged by the Three Gorges Dam from the top of the dam.

A commemorative park will also be built on the left section to mark the damming of the Yangtze River, according to the Great Three Gorges Travel Agency. The generators will also be open to tourists.

More than 800,000 tourists visited the Three Gorges Dam area in 2004, with tourism revenue hitting 130 million yuan (US$15.6 million).
