Jingxin Academy (Shu Yuan) was founded in 1869. It was an academy of classical learning originally and was changed to school style in 1898 whose four courses were foreign languages, astronomy, sciences and manufacturing. Chinese history was also taught. Jingxin Academy was then developed into a new-styled school.
