Gude Buddhist temple

Yichang Customs set up, Gude Buddhist temple built (1877)

Yichang Customs was established in 1877 and Britain set up consulate in the city. Businessmen from Britain and Japan started to do the business in Yichang.

14 officially owned ships appeared in Hanyang Wharf.

Buddhist monk De Xi built Gude Buddhist temple that year.

Britain NGPL Shipping Company set up sub branch in Hankow  which had 4 ships (1,264 tons) to sail from Hankou and Shanghai.
