Behind the statue is the remainder of Hanzhiping blast furnace
Zhang Zhidong assumed the post of Huguang Viceroy (Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi) December 17, 115 years ago. During his 20-year’s post in Hubei, Zhang set up industry, develop the education and started New System Reform.
To commemorate his achievements, futurity built some statues for later generations to visit and ponder.
