3rd Global Botanic Gardens Congress to open in Wuhan

(english.cnhubei.com) The 3rd Global Botanic Gardens Congress (3GBGC) which will be held from April 15-20 in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, is the largest and the most influence congress in the field and known as the Olympics of botanic gardens. Over 1,000 experts, scientists, scholars and officials from 100 countries and regions will attend the congress.

 

With the theme of this year’s congress will be role of botanic garden: future’s sustainable development, the congress will focus the discussions around Global Strategy for Plant Conservation and provide a global forum for the botanic garden community to share their knowledge, experience, practice and research.

 

The congress aims to promote the implementation of Global Strategy for Plant Conservation and guides the works of global botanic gardens in 2007-2010.

 

2007 is an important year for both BGCI and the Wuhan Botanical Garden, marking BGCI’s 20th anniversary and 50 years since the establishment of Wuhan Botanical Garden. Activities will also be held during the Congress to celebrate the two anniversaries.

 

The congress will also promote the ecologic tourism an other industries and provide a platform for the world to know Hubei and Wuhan.
