武汉商贸职业学院外国语学院

　　外国语学院前身为外语系，始建于2002年，是武汉商贸职业成立最早的院系之一。2004年9月在原外语系的基础上组建成立了外国语学院。现开设有商务英语、旅游英语、文秘3个专业。

　　为适应社会对外语人才的需要，学院在学科建设上，坚持“多渠道，多层次，多模式”的联合办学方针，努力打造自己的专业品牌，以培养外语语言基础扎实，具有商务、旅游、中文等通性知识的复合型人才为目标，以“国际化、融通性、应用型”为办学特色，培养适应社会需求的应用型人才。学院积极进行教学体系和教学理念的改革，改变传统的统一难度和进度的教学方法，激励学生学习，提高学生的专业水平。为了开拓学生的视野、营造良好的学习气氛，学院开展系列讲座，举办英语朗诵、英语话剧比赛等活动，开展英语角，丰富学生的课余生活，锻炼学生的运用能力。

　　学院下设行政、教研室、学生管理、院分团委、学生会等多个科室，拥有专职教职员工59人，其中30%以上的教师具有硕士以上的学位；外聘教师10人，教授4人，讲师5人；外籍教师10余人，分别来自美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚等母语为英语的国家，他们热爱中国，致力于我校的教育工作。我院目前共有学生1300多人，现已有两届毕业生，就业率都在95%以上，已毕业的学生多集中于北京、广州、深圳、武汉等大城市，从事与外贸、秘书、导游等相关的工作，也有部分学生自主创业。

　　外国语学院领导班子和全体教职员工将以学科建设和发展为目标，以教学改革为手段，坚持特色办学，调整和优化学科专业结构，不断提高教学质量和科研能力，提升学院的整体办学水平，力争把我院办成具有鲜明学科研究特色和人才培养特色的、服务于社会经济文化事业发展的复合型外语人才的培养基地。

　　A Brief Introduction of Foreign Language School

　　Foreign Language School, one of the earliest departments in Wuhan International Trade University, was established in 2004. It comprises three majors, Business English, Tourism English and Secretarial. Meeting the needs of the society for foreign language professionals, our school adheres to the principle of “multichannel, multilevel and multimode” to build its professional image in disciplinary construction with an aim of cultivating all-round graduates, who have a solid command of foreign languages as well as the common knowledge of business, tourism, Chinese and so on. International, integrated and practical, our school also cultivates the practical professionals to fulfill the demands of the society. Our school actively reforms teaching systems and philosophy and transforms traditional teaching approaches to stimulate students’ initiative and improve their professional levels. With a view to broadening students’ vision and creating a positive learning atmosphere, we organize a series of lectures, English Recitation, English Play Contests and English Corner to enrich students’ extracurricular activities and improve their practical abilities.

　　Foreign Language School consists of five Teaching and Research Sections, Students’ Affairs Office, Students’ Subsidiary Youth League and so on. The total number of the staff is fifty-nine, over 50% of who have Master’s degree, in addition to ten part-time teachers including four professors and five lecturers. We have more than ten foreign teachers from English-speaking countries such as America, Britain, Canada, Australia, etc. They love China and devote themselves to the English teaching in our school. Currently, there are over 1,300 students on campus. The employment rate of our graduates in the past two years reaches ninety-five percent. Most graduates work in the metropolis like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, etc, primarily engaged in the jobs such as foreign trade, secretarial and tourism. Some students even start their own business.

　　In order to equip graduates and enable them to play a role in the development of socio-economic and cultural areas, our administrators and faculty are constantly developing and perfecting the disciplinary construction through reform of teaching and advocating education with our distinct characteristics. As a dynamic and integral part of the university, Foreign Language School strives not only for the simultaneous improvements in teaching and research work, but also for the advancement of interaction and mutual promotion.
