'Butterfly Valley' witnesses local biodiversity | “蝴蝶谷”见证生物多样性改善

On March 10, our reporteraccompanied Zhu Xiaoming, abutterfly watcher, to "ButterflyValley" in the north of HuangpiDistrict where all kinds of butterflieswere "waking up" after winter.

3月10日，记者跟随观蝶达人朱小明前往黄陂区北部一条峡谷中，这里到处都是越冬后“苏醒”的各色蝴蝶，被称为“蝴蝶谷”。

Along a narrow path,butterflies were seen from time totime on stones, above pools andon grass leaves. Zhu could easilyidentify them all and call out theirscientific names. He has observedmore than 50 kinds of butterflies inthe valley.

走在窄窄的山道上，石头上、水潭处、草叶间，不时有一只蝴蝶蹁跹起舞。朱老师都能一一辨认。朱老师在此处记录了50多种蝴蝶。

Sha Xi, head of the WuhanEcological Environment Science andTechnology Center, said that thecoverage of plants in the city andthe number of butterflies areroughly proportional to each other.The increasing number of butterfliesin the valley is a proof of theimprovement of the biodiversity andecological environment in Wuhan.

武汉市生态环境科技中心负责人沙茜表示，城市周边的植物越来越丰富，蝴蝶数量也会越来越多。蝴蝶谷正是武汉生物多样性得到改善、生态环境得到较大提升的证明。
