  Wuhan is the provincial capital of Hubei, located in the center of the central part of China and eastern Hubei, where the Han River joins the Changjiang River. It covers an area of 8,467 square kms, with a population of more than 8 million.

  Wuhan is the economic geographic center of China and an important strategic backstop in central China. It is a metropolis and an important transportation pivot in China, where Jingguang, Hanyu and Wujiu Railways meet, and where Hurong and Jingzhu Expressways intersect.

  Wuhan is rich in water resources. The Changjiang River, the third largest in the world meets its largest tributary the Han River here. Besides, the city is dotted with 189 lakes. Water area accounts for about 25% of the urban area, which is rarely seen in  other large cities m the world.

  Wuhan has a solid economic foundation. It is an important functional center for economy, trade, finance, transportation, information and technology and education in Central China. Its major sectors include modem manufacture industry with optic-electronic information, auto- mobile manufacture as the key components, steel manufacturing, new pharmaceutical sector, biology engineering, new material industry, environmental protection. Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Co. and Dongfeng-Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd settle in this city. Besides, there are in this city 35 higher educational institutions including the well-known Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, 3 state-level development zones and many enterprise incubators. The comprehensive strength of science and technology ranks the third in China.

  Wuhan is one of the cities in inland China with the best investment environment and rapidest economic development. Up to now, Wuhan has received investment from more than 40 countries and regions. More than 40 of the 500 largest multinational corporations in the world have made investments in Wuhan.

  Wuhan is a famous historical and cultural city in China with a long history of more than 3500 years. It is a garden city endowed with beautiful hills and waters and rich in cultural tourism resource. The major scenic spots and historical sites include: the Ruins of Panlong City in Shang Dynasty, Former Site of the Military Government of the 1911 Revolution, Former Site of CPC's August 7 Conference, East Lake Scenic Spot, Yellow Crane Tower, Guiyuan Temple, Guqintai(Platform of Ancient Lute), Wuhan Zoo and so on.
