(China Daily) For half a century a rural teacher, lame in one leg, has visited villages the length and breadth of northern Hubei collecting folk songs which might otherwise have been lost.
Li Liangheng's travels have taken him to 1,250 villages in 10 counties from where he has gathered scores of traditional tunes. To encourage villagers to share their songs, Li would sing some of the ones he learnt elsewhere.
The now retired teacher, has collected and sorted more than 160 which he has meticulously copied out, reports the Chutian Metropolis News.
