The UN assistant secretary-general Kalman Mizsei attended the opening
ceremony of the United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency procurement
information center in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province on
September 23.
(cnhubei.com) The United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency procurement information center was established in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province on September 23, 2005.
It is UN’s third procurement information center in China, following Beijing and Yiwu of Zhejiang Province.
The center, located in the Guoting Shopping Mall of Hanzheng Street, one of the most famous commercial streets in China, will be in charge of direct purchases and provide information on the UN's needed items.
The UN assistant secretary-general Kalman Mizsei, came to Wuhan for the opening ceremony, becoming the highest-ranked UN official that visited the city.
With the support of the Central China's Emergency Strategy, Wuhan Government hope the center to bring great business opportunities to local enterprises and to promote its economic development
The UN spent more than US$6billion in global procurement annually, while only around US$ 30 million was bought in China.
